I was very fortunate to be on their 70th and 75th D-Day celebration tours. The service and attention to details was exceptional. It was very moving to go back.
2025 was the 200th anniversary of the birth of the modern railway. The first passenger railway to use steam power - the Stockton & Darlington Railway - opened in September 1825 and after that, rail travel never looked back. Relive the golden age of rail travel and take a Heritage Railways Group Tour. The UK has miles of heritage railway lines where vintage steam engines will take your group on a trip through picturebook countryside, stopping at historic railway stations and museums along the way. Enjoy fine dining, an afternoon tea or even a traditional fish and chip supper as you go.
Travel along the original Stockton & Darlington Railway and explore the museum. Visit other vintage steam lines across the UK, each with their own incredible story. Experience the National Railway Museum in York, home to the largest collection of railway objects in the world and see the Museum's grand Station Hall. Visit Locomotion in Shildon, the birthplace of railways. Take a group tour around the London Transport Museum's Depot, see London's magnificent train station facades and buildings, discover disused London Underground tunnels and stations and enjoy afternoon tea in a traditional station hotel.
Inside and cosy or outside and bracing? There’s a lot of fun to be had during the winter months in the UK.
